Stopping viruses and germs spreading using a steam cleaner

A steam cleaner heats up the water past its boiling point. Water turns into steam. Then the pressurized steam will be forced out through the cleaner’s nozzle, brush, or other attachment.

Steam cleaning kills 99% of viruses, bacteria, and other germs. In order to have effective steam cleaning, you should consider the following:

  1. Use the steam to clean the surface with a sustained contact for at least 3 minutes.
  2. The temperature should be between 175-212 degrees Fahrenheit.
  3. The higher the temperature, the better result.
  4. No need for suction since the high-heat moisture dries quickly.

Steam can’t be used on anything that can be damaged by high heat, like:

  • porous surfaces like marble.
  • Large areas of the carpet.
  • Delicate surfaces like silk and velour.
